An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after a stabbing in Stovner on Tuesday afternoon. His defender says to VG that he denies criminal guilt. The 18-year-old has previously been convicted of two other incidents of violence: one at Stovner in December 2020 and one at Veitvet in January this year. For the latest incident, he was sentenced in June to 120 days of suspended prison, with conditions for youth follow-up. The court then expressed concern that he was convicted in a new case of violence so soon after the previous one. No one else has been charged after Tuesday’s stabbing, and the police are still trying to get an overview, says acting section leader Ingebjørg Hansen in the homicide department. – You work with many hypotheses. We are trying to find out if there may be any conflicts behind it, and if there are more people involved, says Hansen. Many young people present The incident happened at Stovner centre, close to both a secondary school and a high school. Many young people were present when the incident happened, according to Hansen. – There has been a gathering of several young people. We are interviewing witnesses, but cannot say what witnesses have seen or not seen. They also have some video material they are now going through, says Hansen. The police believe the incident happened in connection with a conflict. Photo: Johanna Hauge / news Happened outdoors The police received information about the incident at 12.11, and sent large resources to the scene. The first reports were of a fight and a possible stabbing, operations manager Bjørn Gunnar Nysæter tells news. – Initially, we received a report of a rather large gathering in connection with a fight. How many people have been directly involved in the incident that has resulted in these injuries is unclear to me now. The incident happened outdoors behind Stovner centre. When one of the patrols arrived at the scene, they found the boy, who was described as critically injured. – After a short time, we also find a person who is arrested, who we put in connection with the incident. In addition, we have a person who was found nearby with minor injuries to a hand, says Nysæter. The injured person was treated in hospital and is now stable. The police hope it will be possible to question him during the day. On Wednesday, the police are still carrying out technical investigations into the case, but will not go into what that entails. Interrogating witnesses There is nothing to indicate that there will be any further danger to the public, according to the operations manager. – The information we have indicates that this is in connection with a specific conflict, and not something that has hit random people. The police currently do not know whether there is any relationship between the people. Hansen emphasizes on Wednesday that they do not believe the stabbing has any connection with the shooting at Torshov later that evening. – Whether we put it in connection with any other events beyond that, it is too early to answer now. Witnesses who have not been in contact with the police are encouraged to call 02800.
