In short, this is at the heart of the inflamed case: Jørgen Graabak was disqualified because of an illegal bond in the combining lords’ team competition in the World Cup on Friday. Norway’s combined national team later submitted a protest against the procedure behind the disc. After the protest, Norway was called back to the equipment controller to showcase the bond again. Norway returned the skis, but had already replaced the bond with another. – FIS claims that in the process after the protest, binding was changed on the skis in hiding to trick the jury, says Edgar Fossheim, chair of the news combined committee. He confirms that the binding was replaced, but rejects that it has been done to fool someone. – It is true that binding was changed, but no one expected Skien to be the subject of new investigations. Some claim it is done with the intention of cheating. In any case, there is nothing deliberate cheating on our part, says Fossheim to news. Claims his innocence Fossheim claims the binding was immediately changed after the disqualification of Graabak to prepare the skis for jumping the next day. – The jury asked a person in the Norwegian support system to pick up the skis for a new control, and he was completely unaware that the skis had a new bond, says the Combined Committee leader. Fossheim says he who changed the binding barely knew there was a protest. – The binding was changed, and it had to do so right away because he had many ships he was going to prepare, says Fossheim. – Then the person who has delivered the protest, and is located somewhere other than in the butter’s room, suddenly told to run and pick up the skis, and he fetches Jørgen’s skis with a binding that is not the Jørgen jumped on. This seems to someone in FIS that is done with the intention of deceiving the jury. DIST: Jørgen Graabak says the press release on investigation came as a shock, but says he had no idea he jumped with the wrong binding. Photo: NTB confirms Investigation FIS confirms that there is a case with the ethical committee, but Renn Director Lasse Ottesen does not want to say what the investigation is all about. – An investigation of the case with Graabak has been opened. This does not apply to the actual disk of Jørgen when he jumped with bindings that were not in order. This applies to the protest we received from Norway and the process around what happened when the protest came in. There were things where we were not very happy at all. That’s what we sent on, Ottesen told news on Sunday. Sports Manager Ivar Stuan supports Fossheim’s statements and says he has nothing to add to the case. Delivered the skis: – I ran down it was coach Truls Johansen who delivered the skis. He calls the suspicions an “unfortunate case”. – An extremely important point, and the core of the case, is that we protest the procedure and not the disqualification itself. If we had gone up there to trick the jury, we had firstly protested the disqualification itself and consequently had the equipment to have a measurement. Read the full explanation for Truls Johansen here: On the other hand, we protested the procedure, and in such a protest, the equipment itself is not relevant. Therefore, it was not included either. We believe that an objective goal should be taken to disqualify an athlete, not based on vision. This was not done, but in our opinion is an important legal principle. That’s why I went up and delivered a protest of the procedure itself. After delivering the protest, I was sent out by the jury room. Some time later, I was called up to the jury room again, where the jury was unsure of what the protest was, where I stated that it was the procedure that was protested. I was again sent out by the jury room. Then I was called in to the jury room a third time, where they wanted me to bring the skis. We never had any intention of having the skis up to the jury, as it was not the disqualification itself that we put in protest. It shows both the protest we added black and white in round 1, and the clarification in round 2. Therefore, it becomes completely unreasonable to claim that we delivered a protest with the intention of deceiving the jury. – Of course it’s boring. In light of things going on during the day, it is not super surprising either. It was a slightly boring situation, but we can only tell how things were going on and can do nothing more than that, says Johansen. – Did you know that the ski you brought to the jury had switched binding? – No, I didn’t realize that, says the jump coach. Johansen says he was with the jury and posted a protest on behalf of the team. He was later called to take the ski up. – What happened? – Then I ran down to pick up that ski and bring that ski up. Then they take some pictures of bonds, then I go out again. Then they call me up again afterwards and say that the protest has been rejected. World Cup bronze: Despite the counter, Norway ended up on the podium in Trondheim. Photo: NTB Repeated jury visit Johansen says he was in three times in the jury room: to deliver the protest. To elaborate orally what the protest was about. To deliver the ski. The jump coach is clear that he had no idea that the bond had been replaced by any of the jury visits. – I do not hear that until after the protest where everything is rejected. – What do you think? – Firstly, it is damn unlucky. And it is clear that it should have been a little better, but we are in the middle of a World Cup competition where we have four athletes who are going to start in a cross-country skiing right afterwards and things are going fast. There is a bunker where we change and have equipment in, where it is not possible to communicate without going out. – It goes very fast, and it probably goes a little fast for ourselves too. Only we have to take self -criticism and improve those routines, because it obviously did not work, says Johansen. Graabak: – Come as a shock combined runner Jørgen Graabak says he stuck to the woods as soon as he learned about the disqualification because he took it very heavily. There he stayed until the cross country. – I was very surprised when I learned about the disqualification, when I had no idea I had jumped with the wrong binding, says Graabak to news. – I was told that there was talk of a protest of the procedure under the control, but was neither informed nor involved in this process because I prepared for the cross -country, he says. He says he still has confidence in those around him, but thinks the aftermath comes as a big surprise. – I did not know that there had been any controversy around the protest before Sunday, when the press release from FIS came. This came as a shock, says Graabak. – I’m now starting to get a picture of what you claim has happened. And with the information I have now, I have confidence in the explanations from my support system. WORD BUTTON: Renner Director Lasse Ottesen will not say anything as long as the case is under investigation. Photo: NTB notifies more information on Tuesday Lasse Ottesen announces that more information will come over the next day. – The case is now investigating the Ethics and Compliance Office in FIS, as long as it is open I can not comment. Will be sent out more info from FIS during Tuesday, Ottesen writes in an SMS to news. Norway objected to the way the disqualification was carried out. They believe the binding was disqualified on eye vision – and without measurement. – I have never been a binding case before, nor has it never been talked about delivering anything for a new check when it comes to suits or anything else. It is the ethical committee in FIS that must find out if there is anyone who has not spoken true. So far I can say that I should not have any reason not to trust our people. I have no reason to suspect that their own people are lying to me and do not want to suspect anyone of dishonest intentions, says Fossheim. – We want to appear honest and sincere people who do our utmost for our athletes to perform. We fully trust that the process and the study FIS will provide a final good answer to this. Admitted giant tab Norway had a brilliant starting point before the cross -country section by over 20 seconds down to Austria and Germany, but instead started far behind after the disqualification. The Combiners went into a World Cup bronze. Jump manager for the combined national team, Tom Hilde, said on Friday that Graabak used an old bond without knowing it. – We have tested many skis and had faith in the couple who have better speed than before. We have looked at a binding from five to six years back. There was a rule that a bond should be symmetrical and they found an asymmetry. The way we look at it does not give a competitive advantage, Hilde said. He believes the error is due to the fact that they have tested many skis lately and that bindings are stone. – But of course, we had known that the binding had entered the pile we had taken it out. It has been fooled with new bonds. The difference is so small that I fully understand that it lurks in. Then we have to sort better and get better system. – What would you call this? – It’s a huge rank of rank. We are being washed without getting an advantage, because we have been sloppy in the way we work. We have wanted to speed up and sanded too much. This comes from a very long time ago, that bond. It may have been used other times too, but there is only speculation, Hilde said after the team competition on Friday. Published 10.03.2025, at. 19.26
