Marthinsen represented the Labor Party in the Storting for four periods. For three years she was the party’s fiscal spokesperson. In response to questions from Vårt Land, Marthinsen confirms that she has resigned from Ap, but says she does not want attention about her resignation. She also does not want to say anything about the rationale for it.
