A woman says that both she and her sister are offended in the court case against Arne Bye. – That makes it safe in a way, the sisters say about the fact that they are both offended. But it is only the first of the two sisters who was filmed during the investigation during which Bye is accused of raping her. The indictment in the case against Arne Bye: On 17 September 2024, the indictment against the former municipal superintendent and GP was ready. The indictment deals with a total of 94 offended women. For all 94, the indictment violated the Criminal Code 1902 § 193 and the Criminal Code 2005 § 295 for having obtained sexual relations by abusing his position as a doctor. In 87 of the cases, he is additionally prosecuted for a breach of the Penal Code 1902 § 192 first and second paragraph and the Penal Code 2005 § 291/§ 292 for rape by having sexual intercourse with someone who was unable to resist this. All indictments concern documents to be carried out in connection with medical examinations in the period 2004 to 2022. With one exception, the examinations were carried out at the office where Arne Bye worked. A number of the investigations are filmed without the victim’s knowledge or consent. – After a preliminary assessment, I would like to acknowledge. Bye admits both to having raped the woman and to having abused his position to achieve sexual relations with her. – We have been presented with a video in which it seems that out of the blue, a smearing is suddenly carried out. Where, without any background, I go into a cupboard and pick up an ointment or cream and start applying, says Bye. One of the sisters has not been to a gynecological examination after the case against Arne Bye became known. – I thought it was terrible, but I know it is important so I have to do it one day, she says in court. – When there is no film, he does not acknowledge Bye acknowledges neither having raped nor abused his position towards the other sister who is explaining herself in court. She also had a gynecological examination at Bye for abdominal problems, but this time there is no video evidence of that. – When there is no film of me, he can easily say that he does not acknowledge, says the other sister shortly after she has finished in court. – Because it is I who will testify, who is obliged to tell the truth. But he doesn’t need to do that, she adds. Arne Bye’s defense attorneys do not want to comment on the woman’s claim that when an investigation is not filmed, Bye does not admit to having done anything wrong. Where can you get help? The woman says in court that she is unsure whether the defendant has the conscience to know what he has done. – How can he come to the village and just do this? I hope he understands what he has done to us. But whether he has the conscience to feel it, I don’t know. After she has heard Bye’s explanation, she tells her first sister the same – that she doesn’t think he has a bad conscience. – If not, he would not have done what he has done, she says after hearing Bye’s explanation.
