L’ancien pr\u00e9sident est-timorais Jose Ramos-Horta, ancien combattant ind\u00e9pendantiste et laur\u00e9at du prix Nobel, a remport\u00e9 jeudi le second tour des \u00e9lections pr\u00e9sidentielles. Il a battu le pr\u00e9sident sortant Francisco Guterres pour la deuxi\u00e8me fois. Cela rapporte AP.<\/p>\n

Ramos-Horta, 72 ans, un chef de la r\u00e9sistance pendant l’occupation indon\u00e9sienne du Timor oriental, a enregistr\u00e9 une victoire retentissante : apr\u00e8s avoir compt\u00e9 plus de 60 % des voix, il se situait \u00e0 61,7 %. Guterres a re\u00e7u 38,3% et a accept\u00e9 d’accepter le r\u00e9sultat. Les r\u00e9sultats officiels du scrutin, qui s’est tenu mardi, sont attendus la semaine prochaine.<\/p>\n

Ramos-Horta, qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sident de 2007 \u00e0 2012, avait une large avance au premier tour, mais n’a pas atteint les 50% n\u00e9cessaires pour gagner tout de suite. Il a \u00e9galement battu Guterres en 2007. Les deux candidats se sont reproch\u00e9s des ann\u00e9es de paralysie politique pendant la campagne.<\/p>\n

L’ancien pr\u00e9sident s’est engag\u00e9 \u00e0 r\u00e9duire la pauvret\u00e9, \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer les soins de sant\u00e9 et \u00e0 cr\u00e9er des emplois dans la plus jeune d\u00e9mocratie d’Asie. Il reprendra ses fonctions le 20 mai, jour du vingti\u00e8me anniversaire de l’ind\u00e9pendance du Timor oriental.<\/p>\n

L’ancienne colonie portugaise a \u00e9t\u00e9 occup\u00e9e par l’Indon\u00e9sie voisine pendant un quart de si\u00e8cle. Le pays a obtenu son ind\u00e9pendance en 2002, \u00e0 la suite d’un r\u00e9f\u00e9rendum en 1999. L’arm\u00e9e indon\u00e9sienne a r\u00e9pondu par des attaques qui ont en grande partie d\u00e9truit la partie orientale de l’\u00eele de Timor.<\/p>\n

Ramos-Horta a re\u00e7u le prix Nobel de la paix en 1996, avec l’\u00e9v\u00eaque catholique Carlos Felipe Ximenes Belo, pour leur r\u00f4le dans la recherche d’une solution pacifique au conflit au Timor oriental.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
