Jans y Dientje Ossel se conocieron cuando ten\u00edan diecisiete a\u00f1os. La chispa salt\u00f3 durante una velada de baile en Valthe. Se casaron el 13 de septiembre de 1963 y luego vivieron en Assen durante un a\u00f1o y medio. <\/p>\n

En aquella \u00e9poca Jans trabajaba detr\u00e1s de su casa, en la zapater\u00eda. Dientje trabajaba entonces en el sector sanitario de Boeijenoord. Despu\u00e9s de su paso por Assen, se mudaron a Hoogeveen. Aqu\u00ed fundaron su propia zapater\u00eda y tienda (Ossel Voe- en Schoencentrum) en Nije Nering. Lo han hecho juntos durante m\u00e1s de cuarenta a\u00f1os. Jans hace las reparaciones, Dientje hace las ventas. Dejaron de trabajar en 2004 y pasaron el testigo a su hija y a su yerno. Durante esa \u00e9poca, Jans sol\u00eda ayudar a reparar zapatos, mientras Dientje cuidaba de sus nietos. <\/p>\n

Tuvieron un hijo y dos hijas juntos. Ahora tienen nueve nietos, de entre 5 y 26 a\u00f1os. Vivieron encima de la tienda hasta 1983 y finalmente se mudaron a su casa actual en Kievit. <\/p>\n
