El Veenendaler vio a su oponente australiano Jordan Thompson rendirse despu\u00e9s de s\u00f3lo un set.<\/p>\n<article class=\"embed-block\">\n<section class=\"web-embed body-style body-style--s1 embed-block__content\"\/><\/article>\n<aside class=\"banner banner--wsc-r1 banner--hide-double-column\"\/>\n<div class=\"textblock paragraph\">\n<p>Van de Zandschulp, de 27 a\u00f1os, se llev\u00f3 el primer set por 6-3.  Posteriormente, Thompson se rindi\u00f3 debido a una lesi\u00f3n en el tobillo.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"textblock paragraph\">\n<p>Van de Zandschulp inmediatamente tom\u00f3 ventaja en el primer set.  Thompson se defendi\u00f3, pero no pudo librarse de una segunda rotura.  Despu\u00e9s de eso, el n\u00famero 51 del mundo se rindi\u00f3.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"textblock paragraph\">\n<p>Para Van de Zandschulp es la primera vez desde Wimbledon que alcanza la segunda ronda.  Desde entonces, el n\u00famero 65 del mundo s\u00f3lo ha disputado un torneo debido a una lesi\u00f3n en el tobillo.  La semana pasada perdi\u00f3 inmediatamente su primer partido a su regreso en el Winston-Salem americano.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"textblock paragraph\">\n<p>En segunda ronda, Van de Zandschulp se enfrentar\u00e1 al ganador del partido entre el brit\u00e1nico Dan Evans, clasificado 26, y el colombiano Daniel Gal\u00e1n.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"textblock paragraph\">\n<p>Van de Zandschulp es el \u00fanico holand\u00e9s que queda en el US Open.  A primera hora del d\u00eda, cay\u00f3 el tel\u00f3n para Tallon Grepes y Arantxa Rus.
