Es posible que Thaksin, de 74 a\u00f1os, haya decidido hacerlo debido a un acuerdo con el nuevo gobierno.  Fue detenido inmediatamente a su llegada.<\/p>\n<article class=\"embed-block\">\n<section class=\"web-embed body-style body-style--s1 embed-block__content\"\/><\/article>\n<aside class=\"banner banner--wsc-r1 banner--hide-double-column\"\/>\n<div class=\"textblock paragraph\">\n<p>Thaksin huy\u00f3 al extranjero en 2008 despu\u00e9s de que el ej\u00e9rcito pusiera fin brutalmente a su gobierno dos a\u00f1os antes.  El popular reformador social fue procesado por corrupci\u00f3n: acusaciones que, seg\u00fan el propio Thaksin, tienen motivaciones pol\u00edticas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"textblock paragraph\">\n<p>Se rumorea que Thaksin ha vuelto porque ha llegado a acuerdos con el nuevo gobierno.  Tras llegar, se present\u00f3 ante el Tribunal Supremo, que anunci\u00f3 que el ex primer ministro ser\u00e1 condenado a ocho a\u00f1os de prisi\u00f3n.  Luego lo llevaron a prisi\u00f3n, pero a\u00fan no est\u00e1 claro si tendr\u00e1 que cumplir la pena de prisi\u00f3n completa.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"textblock paragraph\">\n<p>La hermana de Thaksin, Yingluck Shinawatra, public\u00f3 fotograf\u00edas de un avi\u00f3n en TikTok con la leyenda: &#8220;El d\u00eda que estaba esperando&#8221;.  Yingluck tambi\u00e9n vive en el exilio.  Ella misma se convirti\u00f3 en primera ministra en 2011, pero tres a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s el poderoso ej\u00e9rcito tailand\u00e9s tambi\u00e9n la depuso.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"textblock paragraph\">\n<p>El regreso de Thaksin se produce el mismo d\u00eda en que el Congreso de Tailandia designa un nuevo primer ministro.  Srettha Thavisin puede convertirse en el nuevo l\u00edder de Tailandia.
