Ya estuvo presente en el Mundial de Rusia 2018 como una de las llamadas &#8220;leyendas&#8221; de la FIFA.  En ese momento, Matth\u00e4us (&#8220;Soy mitad ruso&#8221;) tambi\u00e9n apareci\u00f3 en el Kremlin con el presidente Vladimir Putin, lo que le trajo muchas cr\u00edticas.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;La pol\u00edtica y el deporte no se pueden separar, pero para nosotros los atletas solo cuenta la competencia pac\u00edfica y justa&#8221;, dijo en ese momento.  La gente de Rusia &#8220;organiz\u00f3 una Copa del Mundo fant\u00e1stica&#8221; y convenci\u00f3 con hospitalidad y calidez, &#8220;gracias por eso&#8221;.  \u00c9l les dijo esto.<\/p>\n<p>Adem\u00e1s de Matth\u00e4us, otras ex estrellas tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1n promocionando los campeonatos del mundo del desierto (21 de noviembre al 18 de diciembre).
