Un intento de liberaci\u00f3n franc\u00e9s fracas\u00f3, pero el 13 de abril de 1945, el mismo d\u00eda en que Gasselte fue liberado oficialmente, fueron los canadienses quienes ayudaron a los Gasselter a volver a ser libres.
