Con ello, Haris Doukas espera crear m\u00e1s &#8220;corredores frescos&#8221; en las calles, parques y colinas.<\/p>\n<article class=\"embed-block\">\n<section class=\"web-embed body-style body-style--s1 embed-block__content\"\/><\/article>\n<aside aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"banner banner--wsc-r1 banner--hide-double-column\"\/>\n<div class=\"textblock paragraph\">\n<p>En verano la temperatura en Atenas puede alcanzar f\u00e1cilmente los 40 grados, de hecho, hasta el martes Atenas ostentaba el r\u00e9cord europeo de calor.  En 1977 se midi\u00f3 una temperatura de 48 grados.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"textblock paragraph\">\n<p>El a\u00f1o pasado, la capital griega se vio afectada por varias olas de calor, lo que provoc\u00f3 el cierre temporal de importantes atracciones tur\u00edsticas como la Acr\u00f3polis.  De hecho, seg\u00fan el Observatorio Nacional de Atenas, fue el julio m\u00e1s c\u00e1lido registrado desde que comenzaron los registros en 1863.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"textblock paragraph\">\n<p>&#8220;Las altas temperaturas, la contaminaci\u00f3n y la p\u00e9rdida de vegetaci\u00f3n crean condiciones que hacen que el centro de la ciudad sea insoportable en verano&#8221;, dijo Doukas a la agencia de noticias. <em>AFP<\/em> sobre sus planes.  Antes de su elecci\u00f3n como alcalde en octubre, Doukas era profesor de pol\u00edtica energ\u00e9tica.  Le preocupaba, entre otras cosas, el crecimiento sostenible.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"textblock paragraph\">\n<p>El plan es plantar cinco mil \u00e1rboles cada a\u00f1o para proporcionar m\u00e1s sombra en Atenas y sus alrededores.  Del total, tres mil se instalar\u00e1n en el nuevo complejo deportivo del distrito industrial de Votanikos.  Tambi\u00e9n deber\u00edan plantarse muchos \u00e1rboles nuevos en las colinas que rodean la ciudad.
