Permaneci\u00f3 presidente hasta 2002.<\/p>\n<p>De 2003 a 2007 fue senador por el partido liberal de izquierda Spirit.<\/p>\n<p>Vandenberghe naci\u00f3 en Houtem, cerca de Veurne, y muri\u00f3 en Amberes.
