Miles de hogares en la ciudad inglesa de Manchester se quedaron sin electricidad el jueves despu\u00e9s de que un tornado local arrasara la ciudad durante la noche.<\/p>\n<article class=\"embed-block\">\n<section class=\"web-embed body-style body-style--s1 embed-block__content\"\/><\/article>\n<aside aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"banner banner--wsc-r1 banner--hide-double-column\"\/>\n<div class=\"textblock paragraph\">\n<p>La tormenta Gerrit da\u00f1\u00f3 un centenar de casas en Manchester.  En el distrito de Tameside, un tornado provoc\u00f3 cortes de energ\u00eda, arrancaron techos, derribaron \u00e1rboles y derrumbaron paredes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"textblock paragraph\">\n<p>Hasta donde sabemos, no se han reportado heridos.  Sin embargo, varias personas tuvieron que abandonar sus hogares.  En el suburbio de Stalybridge, las casas resultaron tan da\u00f1adas que primero se deben realizar investigaciones estructurales antes de que las personas puedan regresar a sus hogares de manera segura.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"textblock paragraph\">\n<p>Desde que la tormenta Gerrit lleg\u00f3 al Reino Unido el mi\u00e9rcoles, han surgido problemas en varios lugares.  El tr\u00e1fico ferroviario y por carretera se vio interrumpido en varios lugares.  En el aeropuerto Heathrow de Londres, los aviones cayeron al suelo debido al viento.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"textblock paragraph\">\n<p>Se tomaron medidas contra las inundaciones en Inglaterra, Irlanda del Norte, Gales y Escocia.  Esto no pudo evitar inundaciones en varios lugares.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"textblock paragraph\">\n<p>Storm Gerrit lleva el nombre del meteor\u00f3logo y ex meteor\u00f3logo de NOS Gerrit Hiemstra.
