El holand\u00e9s se dirig\u00eda hacia el podio, pero se desplom\u00f3 por completo.  En parte debido a esto, los Pa\u00edses Bajos experimentaron sus peores 10 kil\u00f3metros en diecisiete a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<article class=\"embed-block\">\n<section class=\"web-embed body-style body-style--s1 embed-block__content\"\/><\/article>\n<aside aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"banner banner--wsc-r1 banner--hide-double-column\"\/>\n<div class=\"textblock paragraph\">\n<p>Roest, de 27 a\u00f1os, se encontraba virtualmente en segunda posici\u00f3n a cinco vueltas del final de la pen\u00faltima etapa contra Ted-Jan Bloemen cuando se top\u00f3 con el hombre del martillo.  Debido al cansancio, el Lekkerkerker incluso patinaba con las manos en las rodillas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"textblock paragraph\">\n<p>Despu\u00e9s de vueltas de 33 y m\u00e1s de 35 segundos, Roest termin\u00f3 octavo con un tiempo de 13.23.96.  Un total de doce patinadores participaron en los \u00fanicos 10 kil\u00f3metros de esta temporada de la Copa del Mundo.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"textblock paragraph\">\n<p>Jorrit Bergsma (cuarto en 13.16.88), Kars Jansman (noveno en 13.29.83) y Beau Snellink (duod\u00e9cimo y \u00faltimo en 13.51.82) tampoco terminaron en el podio.  Esto los convierte en los peores 10 kil\u00f3metros en Holanda en la Copa del Mundo desde el 26 de noviembre de 2006. Esa fue la \u00faltima vez que no hubo ning\u00fan ganador de medalla holand\u00e9s en la distancia de patinaje m\u00e1s larga.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"textblock paragraph\">\n<p>La victoria en los 10 kil\u00f3metros fue para el italiano Davide Ghiotto, que marc\u00f3 13:02.71.
