Today, the verdict is handed down against terrorist accused Zaniar Matapour. Prosecutor Aud Kinsarvik Gravås asked on 14 May for 30 years in prison and detention for terrorist suspect Zaniar Matapour. They also asked for a 20-year minimum term. The court, led by chief judge Eirik Aass, has given the prosecution’s verdict in this, according to what news learns. Matapour’s defense attorney, Marius Dietrichson, asked for a full acquittal for his client. Dietrichson believes Matapour is insane. – Risk of new offenses For nine weeks, the prosecution and defenders argued for and against whether Matapour was guilty of aggravated terrorism or not. The prosecution’s claim of punishment is historic. Never has anyone received such a long prison sentence in Norway, until today. The prosecution believes it has been proven that the attack on 25 June 2022 was an act of terrorism. – We believe there is an imminent danger of new offences, said prosecutor Gravås, when she presented the criminal allegation. The defender argued that he believes Matapour is insane, and what he believed was provocation from the E-service in advance of the attack. – Without the intelligence service’s activities, this would not have been terror, said Dietrichson.
