Let’s dive into all the details about the Young Summer 2026, explaining step by step what it is and how you can secure substantial discounts for your summer travels.
This article will outline the conditions you must meet, how to book your train or bus tickets with discounts of up to 90%, and the duration of this promotional offer, which will expire on September 30, 2026.
What is Young Summer?
Young Summer is a government initiative aimed at individuals aged between 18 and 30, providing extensive travel discounts throughout summer 2026. This initiative allows eligible participants to benefit from discounts on transportation services across Spain and in Europe via the Interrail voucher.
This measure, approved by the Council of Ministers, has a budget of €130 million. Historically, this is the fourth time the Young Summer program has been implemented, with over four million people benefiting from it in previous editions, resulting in 16 million subsidized journeys.
Conditions to Take Advantage of Young Summer
To access the Young Summer discounts, it’s essential to meet specific eligibility criteria:
- Eligible travel dates span from July 1, 2026, to September 30, 2026.
- Participants must have been born between January 1, 1996, and December 31, 2008, inclusive.
- Applicants must hold Spanish nationality or have legal residency in Spain as a foreigner.
How to Use Young Summer Discounts
To utilize the Young Summer discount program, you need to register on the official website designated by the Ministry of Transport, which will be available soon. Registration must occur at least 24 hours prior to your first trip, ensuring you qualify for the discounts.
The discounts offered through the Young Summer program include:
- 90% off regular bus services under state jurisdiction.
- 90% off conventional medium-distance services and metric gauge networks.
- 50% off Avant single tickets.
- 50% off long-distance or high-speed commercial services of all railway operators (Renfe, Ouigo, and Iryo), with a maximum discount of €30 per ticket.
- 50% off a Global Flexible Interrail pass for 10 days within two months, when purchased through Renfe.
To prevent misuse, the government stipulates that you cannot book two return tickets for the same day unless the first journey has already been made or canceled.
Additionally, the Registration Code you receive during the registration process is personal and non-transferable. Any misuse will result in losing the discount, and re-registration will not be possible. The company involved in your journey will inform you of any improper use via SMS or email, detailing the consequences.
