Unless you have booked a completely flexible ticket, according to Iversen it is important not to cancel the trip yourself, but wait until the airline does. – Then you have much better rights, the right to rebook or full refund and compensation at standardized rates. Photo: The Consumer Council According to Iversen, if your flight is canceled, you have the right to demand rebooking as soon as possible, or to get your money back. In addition, the company will cover food and drink during the waiting period, and hotel stays if necessary. According to Iversen, the chaos at the airport can mean that you do not get what you are entitled to, and that you then have to pay yourself and rather apply for a refund. – Everything you pay for yourself has a certain financial risk, since there may be a discussion afterwards about the size of the expenses, he says. – Prepare to travel If you have booked a package trip, the consumer lawyer recommends contacting the company you have booked with directly. – There is probably less pressure there than with the airline, and perhaps also more flexibility depending on the individual company and how they have planned, Iversen says. The rate of compensation you are entitled to from the airline varies, but can be calculated on the Consumer Council’s own website. Several flights have now been canceled.
