What were once common, masculine values - openness, action and courage – are often criticized as “toxic masculinity”. Many young men feel that they can neither be themselves nor express themselves freely, because everything is carefully controlled by an offense committee that cracks down on anything that might hurt someone. In a world where politicians weigh every word in gold to appeal to the largest possible extent of the electorate, Trump stands as one of the few who says things straight. Even with his typical exaggerations, I trust his word more than ordinary politicians. Many young people have lost faith that politicians care about people’s real problems. While politicians prioritize idealistic themes such as climate and solidarity, young people are more concerned with making ends meet. When the same old issues are repeated without concrete results, Trump appears as a breath of fresh air. We are tired of the left’s constant teaching of moral superiority. Trump is a political outsider who challenges and has experience outside politics. In a world where many feel that the institutions have failed, he represents someone who actually takes up the fight against the system. Many young men see the value of forging their own path without a state that constantly puts up obstacles. In Norway, we see an ever-growing state that meddles in everything from the economy to health choices, which many young voters show growing dissatisfaction with – which is also confirmed by the political preferences of young men in Norway. For many young people, Trump stands as a representative of something else. He supports lower taxes and less government control, which appeals to those who want more financial freedom. His prioritization of national interests and focus on energy independence are also significant. He has worked to strengthen self-sufficiency, particularly in energy, which not only creates jobs, but also reduces dependence on foreign imports. This hits a nerve with many young Norwegians, who see Norway’s increased focus on renewable energy and international obligations as a challenge for the country’s own oil industry. Trump represents a policy that values independence and national resources, which many young people see as crucial in an uncertain global market. Under his leadership, the American economy grew, unemployment fell, and many actually experienced financial security. He puts American interests first, shows a willingness to prioritize independence, and values the freedoms that many young people want more of in their everyday lives. For young Norwegians who view ever-increasing government intervention and the weakening of the oil industry with skepticism, it is a refreshing perspective. For me, it is not least about supporting a counterbalance to a cultural and political development from which I feel increasingly alienated. When you are ignored by a political class that seems out of touch with reality and constantly preaches moral superiority, it is no wonder that you support a candidate who dares to be different. So yes, had I lived in the US, I would have voted for Trump. Send us your opinion Want to write? Feel free to contact us at news Ytring with your post. The guidelines can be found here.
