No leisure activities, we have to prioritize school. – I think I have to move to a dormitory. I have no other choice. I don’t want all my free time to go to school, I want to have a life, she says. School is more than just school, you make friends, create your future. Many young people here have lost the opportunity now. They are despondent, sad. – This is just very stupid. The students have not been listened to, she says. Both Svein \u00d8rsnes from R\u00f8dt and Aud Hove from Sp have announced in advance that they would submit a decision on school closures for a legality check. Created reactions along the way The process leading up to the decision has been long, and created strong reactions among pupils, teachers, parents and business. Several students have feared for their free time when they have to commute by bus, and Justice Minister Emilie Enger Mehl (Sp) recently directed strong criticism when she stated that county mayor Breen (Ap) has prostituted herself in order to sit in power with the Conservative Party. Mayor Kristian Frisvold (BL) in Lom stated on Monday in a municipal council meeting that it was “war”, and that they no longer needed to be factual in the school case. The majority in the county council, with Ap, MDG and the Conservative Party, has been clear that action against falling pupil numbers has been necessary. There are over 2,000 vacant school desks at schools in the interior, and by 2038 the county council expects that there will be 3,000 more. We explain the school case in Innlandet.
