One of the top leaders of the Islamic Holy War group was also killed. Now new attacks are coming. – People are sitting at home and are terrified of what will happen. The people in Gaza have nowhere to flee, says Riiser to news. Around two million people live in the Gaza Strip. It is one of the world’s most densely populated areas. When the bombs fall, people cannot leave the area. Gaza borders Israel and Egypt, and all border posts are closed. Neither Riiser nor other internationals in Gaza have the opportunity to get out now, according to Riiser. This also applies to the hospitals in Gaza. – Gaza is already almost without electricity. 70 percent of the population is already dependent on food aid, says Riiser to news. There are few reserves in Gaza. The fact that the border posts are closed to goods means that animals do not get animal feed, there is a shortage of medicine and petrol. Hamas, which rules Gaza, has sent out a message that there is no food shortage and that it will crack down on attempts to raise food prices to profit from the crisis. But none of the causes of the conflict can be fixed, says Heian-Engdal. She believes the chances of getting to grips with the causes of the conflict are even lower now, with an ongoing major war in Europe and high tension between China and Taiwan. – Regardless of whether this becomes a big or a small war, nothing will be fixed. We will be in the same situation in a few or many months again, says Heian-Engdal.
