– I have slept outside almost every night while I have had this summer job. Silje Tonette Hammer\u00f8 Krokenes from Molde has a summer job few have. A large part of it consists of going for walks and sleeping outside in a hammock. She has the opportunity to do this in connection with the project Outdoor Life’s Pathways. Aver\u00f8y municipality applied for a grant from the state to map hiking trails in the municipality, and Hammer\u00f8 Krokenes was the lucky one to get the job. – I don’t regret taking this summer job, says Silje Tonette Hammer\u00f8 Krokenes. Photo: Annabelle K\u00e5rv\u00e5g S\u00f8rensen \/ news Going with other volunteers – I didn’t know that this was a possible summer job until I was tipped off by someone in the Outdoor Activities Council, she says. While many have their summer jobs indoors, the Hammer\u00f8 Krokenes get to spend the whole summer outside in the fresh air. Even if it also means being outside while the rain pours down. – But it has gone perfectly well. Then I’ve slept outside in a shack with a roof over my head, she says, laughing. The Moldensen is not concerned with reaching the highest peaks as quickly as possible, but with enjoying nature at his own pace. She gets time for that in this job. When she walks along the paths, she looks, among other things, for vulnerable species or cultural monuments that must be taken into account, if it is a trip they are going to publish so that more people will go on it. There are several things she looks for on the trips. – If it is a path that is easily destroyed if people walk on it, measures may need to be taken to ensure that it can withstand increased load, says Krokenes Hammer\u00f8. But one of the nicest things about the job is making hidden gems more accessible. – I go on a number of trips with volunteers known locally and write a trip description. There are a number of paths that are marked and are perfectly fine, but which not many people know about, says Hammer\u00f8 Krokenes. – It is a big plus for Aver\u00f8y municipality to achieve this, says mayor of the municipality, Ingrid Ovidie Rang\u00f8nes. It is important that we organize and use the opportunities we have. We see it as hugely positive to get this done, she says. At the same time, she pays tribute to all those involved for the work they do. – We are extremely lucky with our student. She is very talented. And all the volunteers in the municipality who contribute. We have both learned a lot and we have put a lot in place already, so this has been a win\/win for everyone. Rang\u00f8nes says it is important that they make the various hiking trails known to people. – We want to use areas and outdoor life as much as possible, and then it is important that we look after and facilitate so that it is as accessible to people as possible. As for a trip Silje Tonette Hammer\u00f8 Krokenes would recommend, she is more uncertain. – I’m bad at favorite trips, but the trip to “Klimpan” was very nice.
