The eyes of the whole world were on Haaland and his first match for Manchester City on English soil. But the official debut did not go as the Norwegian had hoped. Liverpool led 3-1 until well into overtime when Haaland got the ball lying in front of him in an open goal. But from close range, the Norwegian blew the ball into the crossbar and over. – What an opportunity, what a chance Erling Braut Haaland, said Viaplay expert Tor Ole Skullerud. – The entire goal is gaping. Braut Haaland knows it. He usually scores in his debuts, for Dortmund it was a hat trick. But this time it will be a goalless debut, and there has been no shortage of chances, commented Kasper Wikestad on Viaplay’s broadcast. In 30 seconds he was alone with the goalkeeper and first on a post completely unmarked, but he was unable to put the ball in the goal. – It always takes some time. Before Salah’s penalty, Julian Alvarez had scored the equaliser. The Argentine, who also had his first official game for City, was in front of a return and wrangled the ball in. He had to wait a long time for that score, however, because it was first canceled for offside. But a long VAR check later it was finally approved. Already after just over three minutes, Fabinho sent Mohamed Salah through on the edge, but the finish went into the net wall. The same man was very close again just a minute later. But then Liverpool made the first move. The Reds from Merseyside were able to play Manchester City low, and Salah headed a ball into the feet of Alexander-Arnold.
