The terms “the Norwegian model” and “double threshold” have become a phenomenon in international running, and are largely associated with the training of Jakob Ingebrigtsen. But most people only know what the Norwegian does on an overall level. They know he runs two sessions at an intensity where the body doesn’t produce lactic acid on Tuesday and Thursday, but they can see the details far later. – Training double threshold and a lot of volume is extremely easy. That’s just the foundation. Putting the roof on this foundation is what is important, says Jakob Ingebrigtsen to news. Photo: Lise Aaserud / NTB Only those closest to Ingebrigtsen know how he will prepare for the defense of the Olympic gold from Tokyo. Others have to guess. – When they have to turn that foundation into something that means running fast. There are many who miss. And there are not many people who copy us. Plans confirmed for a long time Ingebrigtsen will not necessarily explain it with secrecy, but revealed in February that the plan for the last six weeks leading up to the Olympics was ready. And hardly anyone knows about it. – If I’m going to run fast in the Olympics… What will I do in the last six weeks? No one does that like me. – But do you already know what you are going to do in the last six weeks from the Olympics? – Yes. There are now seven weeks until the first starting shot goes for Ingebrigtsen in Paris. Ingebrigtsen’s Olympic program Jakob Ingebrigtsen’s schedule in Paris: Friday 2 August: 1500 metres, trial heat, at 11.02 Sunday 4 August: 1500 metres, semi-final, at 21.45 Tuesday 6 August: 1500 metres, final, at 20.50 Wednesday 7 August : 5000 metres, trials, at 11.10 Saturday 10 August: 5000 metres, final, at 20.00 You can watch all the races on news. When European Championship gold numbers five and six were secured in Rome, things moved on quickly. Before the imminent birth of his wife and the NM in Sandnes towards the end of the month, he will quit a job in St. Moritz. Ingebrigtsen says that the program is continuously evaluated together with older brothers Henrik and Filip. Everything from composition of the sessions to small speed changes. – There is perhaps a bit of secrecy with exact execution in the quantity work. The Norwegians we have with us in training now get a little a-ha experience of how little we do one thing and how much we do the other. Especially perhaps in the last five to six weeks before a competition, says Ingebrigtsen – and continued: – There you can ruin a lot if you train too hard or too much. – Damn, they train well. Fredrik Sandvik took part in the 3,000 meter hurdles during the European Championships, and is one of those who has been with Ingebrigtsen a lot at camp in recent years. – It is a sick level, says Sandvik. While most of the weekday training does not contain any big secrets, he has had a few surprises when it comes to the training Ingebrigtsen carries out during a peak period. – I was with Jakob before the WC in Budapest last year. Then I had that experience. So I have now been training with them throughout the winter, autumn and spring. Then there aren’t that many surprises, so to speak. But it is probably a bit like when he says that it is the training that is now, which perhaps in a way surprises him the most, says Sandvik. Moa Bollerød has also been part of Ingebrigtsen’s training group. He believes that no crazy things are done, but describes the “aha experience” like this: – Damn it, they train well. There is a reason why he is so good. What I notice most is when it really drags on. Then you notice the difference between those who are the edge and those who are above. Those of us who are behind can end up a little outside. When asked if he trusts that the scheme will work towards the Olympics, Ingebrigtsen quickly answers with a laugh: – It has worked before… This is where Jakob’s phantom career started 00:51 Bought an autograph for NOK 10,000 01:08 Everyone is fooled with this celebration 00:54 This is how Iuel explains the exchange mistake: – Taking it on my coat 00:40 Show more Published 14.06.2024, at 11.35

ttn-69

European Championship silver winner George Mills admitted unprompted that his favorite Norwegian word is “threshold” after the 5000 meters in Rome.
