But it is the first model that does not use a battery for data transfer. This is what Ilangko Balasingham, who is a professor at NTNU and head of the intervention center at Rikshospitalet, tells us. According to him, there is more that is different with the new 2.5 centimeter pill camera. It takes high-resolution images, and can be controlled from the outside to get better recordings. The aim is to detect and prevent bowel cancer more quickly. – It is a growth that we call polyps, and when we see that it is about to develop into cancer, we want to remove it, says Balasingham. Here, researcher Ali Khaleghi, professor Ilangko Balasingham and researcher Hemin Qadir show off the new pill camera. Balasingham explains that nowadays it is time-consuming to have bowel examinations carried out at hospitals. In addition, it can often be uncomfortable, and not least expensive. – Early detection of bowel cancer, or before it has become cancerous, is very important. We can treat or extend life, he says. In Norway, a screening program is to be started for everyone over the age of 55. And the professor believes that the pill camera together with artificial intelligence can be used for this. – We don’t have enough doctors to do colonoscopies, he says, describing this as a much simpler and faster solution. In the future, the professor envisions that people will be able to get hold of the pill at the pharmacy. – They take the pill themselves, the information is also sent to a cloud solution. When it has been examined, you get the result from a machine. It tells how it has gone, but it must be checked by a doctor. He adds that using artificial intelligence will be a big saving compared to the doctor spending hours going through each video. The researchers believe that the new pill camera can be used in the new screening program that everyone over 55 will be offered. This uses 5G network technology in everything from medical equipment to monitoring farmed fish, according to Gemeni.no. They write that an advantage of using such a pill camera is that you also get to examine the small intestine, which is otherwise not possible with a normal colonoscopy examination. The research group at NTNU has also developed a variant of the pill camera that is not to be swallowed, but is used “from the bottom up”. They have already started working with a German industrial partner to put the prototype into production.
\n

\n
ttn-69 <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
It is not the first pill camera.
