Now the Labor mayor has a strong request to the party colleagues in the government: – We can not live with such extreme price differences for electricity in the various parts of Norway. Something must be done quickly. Asks Norway to do as France The mayor of Røros demands stronger control of the price of electricity. He believes politicians must do as the French government. They introduced the maximum price of electricity in January this year. – It will provide far greater predictability. Once the French government has achieved this, there is no obstacle for Norway to do the same, says the Røros mayor. He believes the last year has been a lesson. – We have seen what can happen when the market is given free rein. Now it must become more predictable. Busch says he is very concerned about small and medium-sized businesses, which do not have long-term contracts for electricity. I feel that the government is simply paralyzed, says Robert Holm at Røros Brewery and Minneralvannfabrikk. This year, they pay almost four times as much for electricity as last year. They have invested in a new bottling line and demand has increased. Now it must be saved. – We are not able to achieve the development we want. Now we have to think about how many employees we have and where we can save. We must have money to pay the bills, says Holm. The brewery has six employees. Holm is proud of the products they make, but now it’s tough. They have to compete with breweries that have almost free electricity. Recognized company in Røros. Electricity costs more this summer than last winter. Power analysts predict that the winter will be tough with electricity prices that are higher than ever. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre has no plans yet to do as in France, which has set the maximum price for electricity. Photo: Gorm Kallestad / NTB Støre says no to maximum price for electricity Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre stated on Sunday in an interview with Aftenposten / E24 that it is not relevant now to intervene in the power market. He believes the price of electricity should not be determined by politicians. – We can not regulate the power industry so that every day and every hour we fall below a maximum price approved by the Storting. The operation of 1000 power magazines affects prices, says Støre in the interview. news has asked for a comment from Støre, but has not yet received a response. When you can get power support Households get power support when the average price is higher than 70 øre per kilowatt hour. Then 80 percent of the price is covered. The housing allowance has been extended. Students receive an extraordinary scholarship of 3,000 kroner if they can document electricity costs. The municipalities have received more money to cover increased payments of social assistance due to high electricity prices. Sports clubs and voluntary organizations receive a temporary subsidy due to extraordinary electricity prices. Electricity support is provided to the agricultural and growth industry. The state covers 55 percent of the electricity, which costs more than 70 øre per kilowatt hour. The electricity tax will be reduced by 1.5 øre per kWh from April until the end of the year Source: The Government LO leader demands action – It is not a livable situation, says LO leader in Trondheim, John-Peder Denstad. He says it is good that the business community in Central Norway has low electricity prices, but the big differences can not continue. – The power should and must be subject to political control, says Denstad. This was the case in Norway before 1990. Then the country got a new energy law. The price of electricity was to be set by the market. Denstad understands the concern from the mayor of Røros. Now he says that measures must be implemented so that water reservoirs are not emptied, and that the price of electricity is not sky-high. Maximum price that in France must be considered, says the LO leader.

ttn-69

– For parts of the business community, it is starting to get precarious.
