The ceasefire will start at 06:00 Norwegian time. The agreement between Israel and Hamas involves a four-day pause in the fighting. 50 hostages are to be released by Hamas and 150 imprisoned Palestinians are to be released by Israel. Facts about the agreement between Israel and Hamas These are the main points of the agreement between Israel and Hamas. The agreement was negotiated by Qatar, Egypt and the United States. 50 hostages are released from Gaza over a period of four days. During these days, all hostilities by Israel and Hamas’s armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, are halted. The hostages to be freed are women and children. Israel has said the ceasefire could be extended if Hamas releases at least ten hostages per day beyond the initial 50 hostages. 150 imprisoned Palestinians are to be released by Israel. The 150 Palestinians are also women and children. On the days without hostilities, 200 trucks with emergency aid and four trucks with fuel will be allowed to enter the Gaza Strip every day. The agreement also involves a complete suspension of air activity over southern Gaza. There will be a six-hour daily suspension of air activity over Gaza City and the northern part of the Gaza Strip. The agreement comes into effect at 7 a.m. local time on Friday. The first hostages will be released at 4pm local time on the same day. Qatar hopes to broker an agreement on the release of several hostages from the Gaza Strip by the end of the fourth day of the ceasefire. A Palestinian source has said that a second round of releases could include 100 hostages being released by the end of November. Both Israel and Hamas have said they will resume hostilities once the ceasefire ends. (NTB) Israel has said that the ceasefire can be extended if Hamas releases at least ten hostages per day beyond the first 50 hostages. Neta Heiman in Tel Aviv misses her mother Ditza Heiman. She was one of at least 237 civilians and soldiers abducted from Israel on 7 October. MISSING: Both great-grandchildren, grandchildren, children and the rest of the family miss Ditza Heiman. Photo: PRIVATE – I am very afraid for my mother. And for the soldiers and everyone, says Neta Heiman to news. – The hostage situation concerns 50 women and children. Do you have any hope that your mother is among them? – Of course I hope so. If they are going to release 12 elderly women, as has been said, then she is among the oldest. But I hope for everyone. Everyone who comes out is a blessing, says Heiman. But faith in a solution is not as great as hope. She is afraid that the nightmare will continue. There have been a few bright spots. Four weeks ago, two elderly women were released. Yocheved Lifschitz told of “hell”. At the same time, she said that the hostages were served food, and Hamas is said to have also told them that “We believe in the Koran, so we will not harm you”. “A HELL”: 85-year-old Yocheved Lifschitz told how she was kidnapped by Hamas on motorcycles. Photo: AP But there have also been reports of dead hostages. Hamas has claimed that 57 hostages and prisoners of war have been killed in Israeli airstrikes. A woman who was heavily pregnant when she was kidnapped may have given birth in captivity. – Psychological terror Neta Heiman fears it will take a long time before the hostages are released. – Unfortunately, I think it will be long-lasting. Maybe someone will be released in a few days, but we will continue to stand with those who miss someone, says Heiman. Every single day for almost seven weeks, family members of the hostages have protested in front of the headquarters of the Israeli Defense Forces. They believe the authorities must do more to free the hostages. The next of kin have many questions. She herself counts almost every single second. Her own country drops bombs on Gaza, where her mother is. – It is terrible. It is psychological terror. Who comes and who stays? Even when I think about my mother coming back, I wonder what condition she is in? How is she? What are her thoughts? Got an answer to my mother’s phone – from Hamas It started when Israel was attacked on Saturday 7 October, almost seven weeks ago. Heiman was listening to the news that hundreds of heavily armed Hamas fighters had stormed into Israel from Gaza. Right into the kibbutz where she grew up, and where her mother lived. GREAT-GRANDMOTHER: Neta’s mother has both grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is very fond of them, says the daughter. Photo: Håvard Greger Hagen She got in touch with her mother by phone, who luckily had made it to safety in a bomb shelter. But the 84-year-old was not safe. The elderly lady was taken by Hamas. The next time the family got in touch, a Hamas fighter answered the phone. – Imagine if it was their mother? Heiman is not satisfied with how the authorities have handled the situation. – To those in the authorities who say that this agreement is not good for Israel, that it will strengthen Hamas. What do you say to them? – I feel a lot of anger towards them. If it had been their mother, they would have released every single Palestinian prisoner. Imagine if it was their mother? I can ask them, what is the price for your mother? DRAMATIC: The morning when Hamas attacked was very dramatic for Neta and her family. A Hamas fighter answered the mother’s phone when they called. Photo: Håvard Hagen / news Earlier in November, it became known that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would have rejected an agreement on a ceasefire in order for hostages to be released from Gaza, writes The Guardian. – It makes me feel bad. I think they have to do what they can to get them back. She does not know what the solution to the complicated and bloody conflict is. – Now we have to pay whatever it costs to get them back. We must resolve the conflict. Politicians and Israelis must help Palestinians to assemble new leaders with whom we can sit down and talk.

ttn-69

Over 15,000 people are said to have been killed in the war between Hamas and Israel.
