Seven people have been confirmed killed in the July 4 mass shooting near Chicago in the United States. Kevin and Irina McCarthy were out to celebrate National Day with their son Aiden (2). According to Irina’s father, Kevin died while protecting his son. “He had Aiden under his body when he was shot,” the boy’s grandfather told the Chicago Sun-Times. The couple Dana and Greg Ring found Aiden with a strange woman, who they say was in clear shock. – She was shaking, and we thought she should not have to look after a little boy as well, says Dana Ring to CBS 2. Aiden must have been covered in someone else’s blood when he was found by the couple. The couple went to look for the boy’s parents, – Then I saw a bloodbath, says Greg Ring. A picture of the boy circulated on social media, and that was how the boy’s grandfather found him. – A neighbor passed by and showed me the picture. I picked him up at the police station. A fundraiser was started for the boy’s family, which has so far raised more than 1.7 million dollars. The family has stated that they do not want to comment on the matter yet. The collection was created by a relative of Irina McCarthy, who tells CNN that the boy’s family will take care of him. “As a two-year-old, Aiden was left in the unthinkable position of growing up without her parents,” the collection states.
