That’s what cultural commentator at news, Inger Merete Hobbelstad, says. On Wednesday around lunchtime, it was announced who are the nominees for this year’s Amanda prize. The most nominated film with eight nominations is Ellos eatnu – Let the river live. Hot on the heels is Krigsseileren with seven nominations. Kristine Kujath Thorp and Pål Sverre Hagen have been nominated for best female and male actor for the third year in a row, this year for their roles in Syk pike and Krigsseileren. Krigsseileren is nominated in eight categories. Both Kristoffer Joner and Pål Sverre Haggen are nominated for best male lead for the film. Photo: Roxanna Reiss / MerFilm – Sensational In the category of best Norwegian cinema, Ellos eatnu – Let the river live, Syk pike and Den siste värn are nominated. Hobbelstad thinks it is surprising that Norway’s Oscar candidate Krigsseileren is not nominated in the categories of best director and best film. – Especially since it is an extremely expensive and demanding project to carry out. She says that the jury has instead chosen to highlight lesser-known films. – The last year was a good year for Norwegian film, and there are not enough nominations for everyone who deserved them. I still found this surprising. NTNU employee nominated The film Norwegian Dream, which was made by director and NTNU employee Leiv Igor Devold, has been nominated for three awards: Best script, best direction and best male actor. – I am incredibly grateful and humbled for the recognition that the Amanda jury shows the work we have all put into the film, says Devold. Director of Norwegian Dream Leiv Igor Devold can be pleased that the film has been nominated in three categories. Photo: Håvard Wettland Gossé Devold is an associate professor at NTNU and has worked with the film project for over 10 years. He believes it is particularly important that a film that thematizes queer love, xenophobia and workers’ rights receives such recognition. – I see how tough it is for many during this year’s pride marking, one year after the shootings during Oslo pride. Then I am extra happy that a film with the message that it should be safe for everyone to come out, no matter who you are, is being promoted.
