The Directorate of Fisheries is now urging people to avoid contact with the beluga.  &#8211; We especially encourage people in boats to keep a good distance to avoid the whale being injured or, in the worst case, killed by boat traffic, says fisheries director Frank Bakke-Jensen in a press release.  The risk that the whale may be injured due to human contact has become significantly greater as a result of it having arrived in a densely populated area.  &#8220;Hvaldimir&#8221; was first seen in M\u00e5s\u00f8y municipality in April 2019 and has since been traveling along the Norwegian coast.
