Explosions were heard in several places in the capital. A house is said to have been damaged in one of the attacks. Several other places in Ukraine have also been attacked by Russian missiles. In the Zaporizhzhya region, 17 explosions were recorded within an hour in the morning hours, local authorities said. In the big city of Kharkiv, the power supply was cut off last night. Ukrenergo, which runs the state-owned Ukrainian power grid, says that infrastructure has been hit across the country, the Kyiv Independent writes. The attacks are aimed at targets across large parts of Ukraine. Biggest attack in many weeks The attacks last night and in the morning hours will be the biggest in several months. Last autumn, Russia directed weekly large-scale missile attacks against infrastructure and other targets in Ukraine. Since the New Year, the attacks have become less frequent and reduced in scale. This has led to speculation that Russia does not have many missiles left and must use the remaining ones for purely military purposes. The attacks on Friday came the day after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy attended an EU summit in Brussels. Smoke rises after a Russian attack on Bakhmut in eastern Ukraine on Thursday. Photo: Reuters Using anti-aircraft fire to attack The Ukrainian Air Force says that 35 S-300 missiles were fired at the Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhya regions. These are missiles of a type that Ukraine is unable to shoot down, writes Reuters. The S-300 missile is basically an anti-aircraft weapon used to shoot down enemy aircraft. In recent weeks, Russia has increasingly used the S-300 to attack targets on the ground. Yuriy Ihnat, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, says it suggests Russia is running out of larger missiles.
\n

\n
ttn-69 <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
The flight alarm went off on Friday morning in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, reports Reuters.
