According to the hospital in the city of Peshawar in Pakistan, at least 32 have been killed and 147 injured. Reuters reports. However, Al Jazeera and AFP write that 25 have been killed and at least 140 injured after the attack. For most, the condition should be stable, according to the local newspaper The Express Tribune. For 10-15 people, the condition is critical, according to Reuters. – We have received dead. It is an emergency, says spokesman Muhammad Asim Khan at the local hospital to AFP. The prayer carpets on the ground are covered in dust and broken building remains. – Part of the building has collapsed and we believe that several people are under there, says Sikandar Khan in the police. The explosion is said to have occurred during the afternoon prayer in the mosque. Condemns the attack On Twitter, Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan writes that he strongly condemns the attack, which he calls a terrorist attack. – My prayers and condolences go to the victims’ families. It is very important that we strengthen intelligence and ensure that the police are equipped to face the terrorist threat, writes Khan. The Prime Minister confirms that it was a suicide attack. He warns of strong measures against those responsible. The last time there was a major explosion in Peshawar was in March last year, when a suicide attack on a Shiite mosque in the city killed 56 people. The extremist group IS then claimed responsibility for the bomb attack, which was the deadliest in Pakistan since 2018.
