The persistent storm of snow and rain affecting the Mendoza mountain range has put numerous high-altitude communities in a critical situation. Over the weekend, local authorities successfully rescued more than 100 individuals as conditions worsened. As a precaution, a yellow alert for Zonda winds has been issued for Sunday, further complicating recovery efforts.<\/p>\n

Emergency response teams have been activated to assist individuals stranded due to severe weather conditions. Among the more urgent rescues was a family from Polvaredas consisting of a married couple and their three children, who self-evacuated after demanding immediate aid due to dwindling resources. Emergency teams also acted quickly to assist a minibus filled with several families trapped by the storm. Fortunately, the vehicle was able to resume its descent safely. The main focus for rescuers now includes the town of Las Cuevas, where 20 individuals remain stranded and waiting for evacuation. They will be prioritized once the National Highway Directorate can clear a passage on National Route 7 for safe transportation.<\/p>\n

This Sunday, the National Meteorological Service (SMN) issued a yellow alert for Zonda wind<\/strong> in the southwest of Mendoza and for snowfall across various areas of southern Patagonia. Authorities are advising community members to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.<\/p>\n
