The Mexican Archery Team<\/strong> showcased exceptional skill on the third day of the Pan American Qualifier<\/strong> held in Tlaxcala<\/strong>, successfully placing \u00c1ngela Ruiz, Adriana Castillo, and Mat\u00edas Grande<\/strong> into the semifinals of their respective individual events. This strong performance also secures the nation’s spots at the Lima 2027 Pan American Games<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In the women’s recurve bow category, \u00c1ngela Ruiz<\/strong> started strong, achieving a 6-0 triumph over Peruvian Alexandra Zavala. She continued her winning streak by defeating Canadian athlete Kylie Oliver with the same score. Ruiz then beat fellow Mexican Ana Paula V\u00e1zquez 6-4 in the quarterfinals, positioning herself for a significant matchup against American Jennifer Mucino in the semifinals.<\/p>\n

The day\u2019s standout performer was Adriana Castillo<\/strong> in the women’s compound bow category. The Baja Californian stunned the audience by overcoming Argentine Mar\u00eda Eugenia Gonz\u00e1lez in a tiebreaker during the round of 32. She then triumphed over American Liko Arreola with a score of 145-144 and outperformed reigning world champion Andrea Maya Becerra, winning 147-146. Castillo will now face Colombian Sara L\u00f3pez for a place in the finals.<\/p>\n

On the men’s side, Mat\u00edas Grande<\/strong> demonstrated his prowess by leading the recurve qualifying round with a score of 683. He defeated Daniel Catariz from Trinidad and Tobago 6-0, Brazilian Matheus Gomes 6-4, and compatriot Francisco Padilla 7-3 in the quarterfinals. Furthermore, part of the national team will conduct training sessions in M\u00e9rida, Yucat\u00e1n, while another group is set to travel to the World Cup in Madrid, Spain. He praised \u00c1ngela Ruiz’s performance, underscoring the constant growth of the Mexican archery team.<\/p>\n

The semifinals and finals of the Pan American Qualifier will take place this Saturday and Sunday at 9:00 and 12:30 in the Historical Center of Tlaxcala, where the Mexican archers aim to wrap up an outstanding showing in the competition.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
