Madrid, May 7 (EFE). All of Spain, excluding Extremadura and the Canary Islands, is currently under warning for rain or intense storms. The alerts are particularly strong in the Valencian Community, where an orange level warning has been issued due to expected rainfall of up to 40 liters per hour, as reported by the Meteorology Agency (Aemet).<\/p>\n
Aemet has indicated that most warnings will remain active from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM peninsular time. However, areas in Andalusia, the Balearic Islands, and the Valencian Community have already had alerts in effect since the early hours of the day.<\/p>\n
In the Valencian Community, there is an orange warning on the coasts of the provinces of Alicante and Valencia due to heavy rainfall. In Castell\u00f3n, the rain warning is yellow, indicating a lower danger level, with anticipated accumulations of up to 20 liters per hour. All three provinces also have yellow alerts for storms, which may include hail and strong wind gusts.<\/p>\n
The Balearic Islands are on yellow alert due to forecasted rain that could lead to accumulations of up to 20 liters in one hour. Similarly, the Region of Murcia is experiencing a yellow alert due to predicted strong storms and rainfall accumulation between 20 and 25 liters in one hour.<\/p>\n
In Catalonia, all provinces except Tarragona are under yellow warnings for rain and potential storms, which could also produce hail. Arag\u00f3n, particularly in the provinces of Teruel and Zaragoza, continues to experience warnings with rainfall of up to 15 liters anticipated in one hour.<\/p>\n
The easternmost provinces of Andalusia\u2014specifically Almer\u00eda, Granada, and Ja\u00e9n\u2014have activated warnings for storm and rain conditions that are expected to deliver about 15 liters per hour. Castilla-La Mancha has imposed yellow warnings for storms or heavy rainfall of 15 to 25 liters.<\/p>\n
In northern Spain, regions including Cantabria, Asturias, La Rioja, the Basque Country, and more provinces in Castilla y Le\u00f3n have also issued yellow warnings. These areas may experience rain of up to 15 liters per hour or strong storms characterized by hail and intense wind gusts.<\/p>\n
The orange alert indicates significant meteorological risk with a degree of danger for daily activities, while the yellow alert suggests that while there is no risk for the general population, specific activities could still face heightened danger.<\/p>\n
