Sadly, the rise of home gaming consoles in the late \u201990s led to the decline of arcades, leaving over 500,000 machines abandoned in Spain. Factor\u00eda Retro is open on weekends, attracting a diverse crowd. “We have everyone from two-year-olds to 95-year-old grandparents,” Jes\u00fas says, highlighting that the nostalgic experience resonates across generations. The team envisions transforming their collection into a more extensive museum that showcases the evolution of gaming, including opportunities for educational programs about how video games are created. “We could expand from 60 operational machines to about 150, creating a powerful interactive museum in Madrid,” Jes\u00fas shares with excitement.<\/p>\n
A notable recent addition to Factor\u00eda Retro is Spain’s first Pok\u00e9mon pinball machine. But this machine represents more than just gaming; it supports a worthy cause. The initiative is linked with ‘Walking with Laia,’ an association that aids children with special needs. Inspired by a young girl suffering from Noonan syndrome, Factor\u00eda Retro organized a charity event where 50% of the proceeds from a pinball tournament will benefit Laia and her family.<\/p>\n
