One of the most shocking incidents occurred in December 2025 when the Rajdhani Express tragically collided with a herd of around 100 elephants. While no human lives were lost, the consequences for the elephants were devastating, resulting in seven deaths and an injured calf, and derailing five cars along with the locomotive. This raises critical questions about animal safety in an ever-expanding railway network.<\/p>\n

### Technological Solutions: AI to the Rescue<\/p>\n

In response to this dire situation, India has embarked on a groundbreaking initiative to mitigate elephant mortality on railway tracks. The plan is both ambitious and technologically advanced, centered around the implementation of a sophisticated early warning system powered by artificial intelligence. The system utilizes a network of 12 cameras, strategically positioned on towers with thermal and motion detection capabilities.<\/p>\n
