The Argentinian Faustino Oro<\/strong> was just a single match away from making history as the youngest grandmaster in chess. Despite his best efforts, he was defeated by the promising Russian player Alexey Grebnev<\/strong> in the final round of the Aeroflot Moscow International Open. Oro, often referred to as the “Messi of Chess<\/em>,” fell short of surpassing the previous record set by American Abhimanyu Mishra, who earned his title at 12 years, 4 months, and 25 days old.<\/p>\n

His journey through the tournament also included impressive draws against renowned players like Indian Grandmaster Raunak Sadhwani<\/strong> and Russian Grandmaster Alexey Goganov<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Faustino Oro discovered chess during the pandemic, guided by his father. In just six years, he advanced from beginner to an elite status among the world’s youth chess ranks. Despite falling short of his grandmaster aspirations, Oro expressed a healthy outlook toward his achievements: \u201cGetting the record is not something that obsesses me; if it comes, the better.
