So then we might as well ask Rudberg. He didn’t mind asking, says team leader in Stabæk Richard Jansen. “Heltene våre er blaa” is the title of Stabæk’s new song, where defender Siri Nordeide Grønli shows off her singing skills together with country legend Rune Rudberg. On the team’s website, the song is not referred to as a cup final song, as these are quickly forgotten, according to the club itself. Nevertheless, it will be used for Saturday’s big cup final against series winner Brann. Previously, Stabæk played three women’s cup finals in 2011, 2012 and 2013. They emerged victorious in all of them, but this time they are not favourites. Inspired by Notodden song The new song is based on Rune Rudberg’s pop-country ballad “kjære min engel” from 1995. – Siri and I have therefore talked for several years about how it would have been fun to make a Stabæk version of the song. We have basically just been waiting for a suitable opportunity, says team manager Jansen. NEW SONG: Music video for Stabæk’s cup final song. For those wondering, the slogan no one can beat is: “Always. Regardless”. The video has been published with permission from Stabæk. Grønli says that she got a CD with cup songs by Jansen three or four years ago, which she has been listening to in the car. She says that the inspiration comes from Notodden’s cup song in 2007, which is also based on Rudberg’s song. – Richard suggested asking if we could make a cup final song with it, says the defender. She further says that they contacted Rudberg’s management and asked to record the song with new lyrics. The text was written by Knut Harlem, the man who came up with the slogan “it’s nice to be Norwegian in Denmark”. Lasse Hafreager has produced the song composed by Nick Borgen. Stabæk fan – It was great that they liked the song. In all fairness, it’s one of the better football songs. It’s almost better as a football song than it was as an original. It has a sing-along factor and is easy to remember, says Rudberg to news. The artist believes it is important to support women’s football, and he never had any doubts about accepting the assignment from the Bærum club. He has therefore chosen to support Stabæk when the cup final kicks off on Saturday afternoon. – There is no doubt about which team I will be with on Saturday, replies the artist, who admits that he has had a tendency to change teams according to players he likes. Fortunately for Stabæk, he has a feeling for Grønli. HOPE FOR STABæK: Rune Rudberg will follow the cup final from the tour bus to Stabæk. Photo: Petter Sommer / news The multi-talented Stabæk player says it was great to be in the studio with Rudberg. – It was beyond all expectations. Actually, the coolest thing was the first time we were there, then we really just had to agree on the rent. To see if we could sing it as loud as I sing it. I was ecstatic, because it was so much fun, says Grønli to news. – Why were you chosen to sing on the song? – I go and yodel in the dressing room, and Richard has heard me sing for several years. I am both fond of singing and tolerably good. Rune thought it was good, laughs the Stabæk player. STABÆK VETERAN: Grønli was with the last time Stabæk won the cup final in 2013. Photo: Vegard Wivestad Grøtt / NTB Grønli impressed Rudberg so much that she was invited to record a love duet in the future. – She was super smart. I thought she had been doing this here for many years, so I hinted at further collaboration, says Rudberg. Perhaps an artist career awaits the veteran in the future. Grønli, who is also a qualified doctor, plays with the idea: – It may very well be that this is what I am going to do. Imagine that. Travel around on tour and be allowed to sing a little. I think that would have been a welcome break. – Only I don’t have to play for Stabæk, laughs Rudberg. – Nothing would have pleased me more than the fact that the song had resounded over the loudspeaker system after the game on Saturday. We are very proud of the song. We think it turned out very nice. says Grønli. Grønli is not afraid to take the microphone and has previously performed in front of the team players at Nadderud Stadium:

ttn-69

– That Siri should sing was read out and agreed, but we needed one more vocal.
