The report titled ‘Moonlighting and Salaries in B<\/em>‘ reveals that 26% of respondents prefer to accept their salary in B, with one in ten admitting to doing so at least once in the last two years. This marks a worrying trend, particularly among younger individuals: nearly 48% of people aged 18 to 24 would consider accepting undeclared income.<\/p>\n

Economic Reality for Low-Income Workers<\/h3>\n

This trend is not just a statistical anomaly; it reflects the urgent need for increased income amid wage stagnation and soaring living costs. Strikingly, among those earning less than 1,000 euros per month, a staggering 38% are willing to accept B payments, irrespective of age. M\u00f3nica P\u00e9rez, the director of Communication and Studies at InfoJobs, notes that the erosion of purchasing power pushes many workers to consider alternatives to sustain their living standards.<\/p>\n

This phenomenon is becoming increasingly mainstream, particularly among individuals with low salaries and unstable contracts. Of those who reported receiving part of their salary in B over the past three years, 69% stated that this supplementary income made up to 20% of their total earnings, while 22% indicated that it accounted for between 21% and 60%.<\/p>\n

The Link Between Job Insecurity and B Salaries<\/h3>\n

The report also highlights a direct correlation between job insecurity and the acceptance of B payments. Approximately 30.3% of employees who received B income reported having non-regulated training, in stark contrast to only 13.2% of workers with higher education and 14.1% with intermediate training who engaged in the same practice. The rationale for accepting B salaries underlines a troubling aspect: 50.3% of the respondents indicated that it was the only payment method available, while 29.4% needed this income to augment their basic salary.<\/p>\n

Long-Term Consequences of Accepting B Salaries<\/h3>\n

Despite the temptations of B salaries, the implications extend far beyond immediate financial relief. Accepting these undeclared payments often means forfeiting valuable social rights associated with labor contributions. Consequently, if part of an individual’s salary is paid in cash without declaration, their contribution base is lowered, affecting future benefits such as sickness pay, unemployment benefits, and retirement pensions.<\/p>\n

In summary, while accepting B salaries may provide temporary relief for many, it also risks perpetuating a cycle of economic vulnerability and reducing essential social protections. Addressing the roots of wage stagnation and job insecurity is imperative to curbing this growing trend.<\/p>\n
