The next target is the continuous line."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div>\n<h2>Monitoring Road Safety: The DGT&#8217;s Expanding Arsenal<\/h2>\n<p>Little by little, without making much noise, the <strong>DGT<\/strong> (Direcci\u00f3n General de Tr\u00e1fico) has been expanding its horizons. First, there were speed cameras. Then came mobile controllers and the use of helicopters. Over the years, there has been a continuous expansion of cameras to monitor the use of <strong>seat belts<\/strong> and mobile phones.<\/p>\n<p><!-- BREAK 1 --> <\/p>\n<p>And now, the focus is on continuous lines.<\/p>\n<p><strong>By Land&#8230; and Air<\/strong>. In Spain, there are currently a total of <strong>3,395 devices<\/strong> active to control speed or any other type of infraction, according to <a rel=\"noopener, noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.faconauto.com\/noticias-automocion\/el-numero-de-radares-crece-un-1544-en-espana\/\" target=\"_blank\">data collected by Faconauto<\/a>. These data not only include the DGT controllers but also take into account that the Basque Country and Catalonia have transferred powers, allowing municipalities to have their own devices.<\/p>\n<p><!-- BREAK 2 --><\/p>\n<p>According to the DGT itself, which compiles the position of all its radars on its website, in Spain there are more than <a rel=\"noopener, noreferrer nofollow\" class=\"text-outboundlink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.motorpasion.com\/seguridad\/sonrie-estas-siendo-grabado-espana-tiene-1-300-radares-que-te-pueden-multar\" target=\"_blank\">1,300 points<\/a> monitored through fixed and mobile radars. Additionally, it should be noted that the DGT has empty boxes distributed throughout the national territory as an intimidating measure.<\/p>\n<p><!-- BREAK 3 -->  <\/p>\n<p>To these systems, we must also add the performance of <strong>Pegasus<\/strong>, the DGT helicopters that pursue speeding from the air. These leading teams, however, seem to have become somewhat obsolete when compared to the technological advancements made by teams in Catalonia.<\/p>\n<p><!-- BREAK 4 --><\/p>\n<div class=\"article-asset article-asset-normal article-asset-center\">\n<div class=\"desvio-container\">\n<div class=\"desvio\">\n<div class=\"desvio-figure js-desvio-figure\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Not Just Radars<\/strong>. In this aerial surveillance, the DGT doesn\u2019t solely rely on speed radars. The public entity has more than <strong>200 cameras<\/strong> monitoring seat belt use and mobile phone usage. Violating these rules can result in significant penalties: <a rel=\"noopener, noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dgt.es\/muevete-con-seguridad\/evita-conductas-de-riesgo\/conducir-sin-cinturon-de-seguridad\/\" target=\"_blank\">\u20ac200 and four points<\/a> for not wearing a seat belt and \u20ac200 with six points lost for using a mobile phone.<\/p>\n<p><!-- BREAK 5 --><\/p>\n<p>Moreover, in recent times, the DGT has introduced a new type of controller. Utilizing cameras, the agency can detect if a driver skips a stop sign or a continuous line. A camera in each lane detects which cars are traveling in each direction at the beginning of the monitored section. The cameras record the license plates of the passing vehicles. At the end of the controlled section, the camera again records cars. If the second recording does not match the first, it&#8217;s clear: the driver has violated the continuous line.<\/p>\n<p>If a vehicle\u2019s license plate is recorded by the same camera at both monitored points, that vehicle has not changed lanes.
