The study reveals that children diagnosed with \u00a0autism\u00a0 before the age of six exhibit \u00a0lower social and communication skills\u00a0 and have a moderate correlation with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (\u00a0ADHD\u00a0) and mental health disorders. Late diagnosis often results in a lack of support during early childhood, which could contribute to the increased risk of mental health challenges in this population. These individuals may also be more vulnerable to experiences such as \u00a0bullying\u00a0, further exacerbating their social issues.<\/p>\n

The research team has cautioned that \u00a0heritable genetic factors\u00a0 influencing these disorders also impact the age at which a diagnosis is made. Michael Absoud pointed out that they have discovered \u00a0biological and developmental profiles\u00a0 that are markedly different for early and late diagnoses of \u00a0autism\u00a0. The next step involves deciphering the complex interactions between genetic and social factors that contribute to poor mental health, particularly in individuals diagnosed later.<\/p>\n

As researcher Varun Warrier, affiliated with the University of Cambridge, states, \u201c\u00a0Genetic influences predispose individuals\u00a0 to display autistic traits from a very young age, leading to an earlier diagnosis.
