According to data from the Industrial and Technological Plan for Security and Defense presented by the Government, this effort involves mobilizing 10,471 million euros by 2025<\/a>. This move represents a significant step forward in aligning with commitments made to NATO while ensuring that social spending remains untouched and taxes are not increased.<\/p>\n

These investments in the \u00a0defense industry\u00a0 carry the potential to stimulate the national industry, indirectly contributing to the reactivation of factories and companies that have historically excelled in technology and production.
\n\u00a0Employment Opportunities\u00a0: The projections from both the Government and various sectoral employers suggest that \u00a096,000 new jobs\u00a0 will be created in sectors such as aeronautics, robotics, programming, and manufacturing. This change not only implies increased job opportunities but also an investment in \u00a0continuous training\u00a0 and fresh prospects for the youth entering the labor market.<\/p>\n

Highly sought-after specialties include telecommunications engineering, aeronautics, electronics, and cybersecurity. Furthermore, there is a pressing need for specialized roles in weapon manufacturing, such as welding, assembly specialization, and expertise in sheet metal, which can be attained through various vocational training programs.<\/p>\n

According to KPMG data published<\/a> by *Fifodies*, the average salary for employees in the defense sector is \u00a085% higher\u00a0 than the Spanish average, which is approximately \u00a025,896 euros per year\u00a0. Consequently, qualified employees in this sector earn about \u00a047,907 euros per year\u00a0 on average.<\/p>\n

Most of these well-paid roles can be found in the aeronautical subsector, closely followed by the naval sector, which have seen substantial growth in recent years, collectively accounting for \u00a074.5%\u00a0 of total sector revenue.<\/p>\n

A Booming Sector<\/strong>: The defense industry, along with aeronautics and security, is currently experiencing substantial growth, particularly spurred by heightened technological demands due to ongoing conflicts, such as in Ukraine, prompting significant investments in research and development (R&D). This trend necessitates the recruitment of highly qualified personnel. According to data from Aesmide (Association of Contractor Companies with Public Administrations), in 2023, the defense-related sectors achieved a turnover of approximately \u00a013.9 billion euros\u00a0, of which \u00a01.2 billion euros\u00a0 were attributed to the aerospace sector. This sector allocated \u00a015.5%\u00a0 of its turnover for R&D and innovation.<\/p>\n

Within this overall figure, defense and security contributed more than \u00a08,000 million euros\u00a0, which translated into an impact on employment of \u00a0115,000 direct jobs\u00a0 and \u00a095,000 indirect jobs\u00a0 spread across various regions in Spain, primarily centered in \u00a0Madrid, Andalusia, and the Basque Country\u00a0.<\/p>\n

This competition has incentivized educational institutions to develop programs aimed at train new professionals<\/a> and address the labor demand within this sector in the upcoming years.<\/p>\n

Major Companies Respond<\/strong>: The shift towards increased defense investment in Spain is prompting notable companies in the sector, such as \u00a0Indra and Navantia\u00a0, to broaden their recruitment efforts to align with the emerging demands. The steel sector, critical for the production and maintenance of military equipment, is also expecting a surge in job creation due to increasing production needs.<\/p>\n

In July, Indra announced<\/a> plans to recruit \u00a02,400 new employees\u00a0 within its defense divisions, with \u00a065% of those positions targeting experienced professionals\u00a0 while the remaining \u00a035%\u00a0 would be reserved for \u00a0young talent\u00a0. Similarly, Navantia has begun to onboard new personnel, offering \u00a045 new vacancies\u00a0 at its Puerto Real facility in C\u00e1diz in response to a rise in orders for new army patrol vessels.<\/p>\n
