We bring you a collection of 19 features and tricks for iOS 26<\/strong>, so that if you have an iPhone with the latest version of Apple’s operating system, you know how to take full advantage of it. In iOS 26, there are several new features, in addition to a complete redesign of the entire interface.<\/p>\n

In this guide, we will focus solely on the new key features of iOS 26. We will briefly explain what each one is about and how you can use it, and perhaps we will reveal some capabilities that you were previously unaware of.<\/p>\n

The big novelty is Liquid Glass, the new interface with crystal-like transparency effects in iOS. If you’re not a fan, you won’t be able to remove it, but you can reduce it<\/strong> so that it is not so transparent. You can also make the new animations less pronounced by reducing the motion. <\/p>\n

To reduce transparency, go to iOS settings and enter the Accessibility<\/em> section. Inside, tap on Screen and Text Size<\/em> and enable the<\/strong> Reduce Transparency<\/em><\/strong> and<\/strong> Increase Contrast<\/em><\/strong> options to soften the Liquid Glass effect. Then, in the Accessibility<\/em> options, go into Motion<\/em>, and enable Reduce Motion<\/em> to lower the effects.<\/p>\n

You have new ways to customize your iPhone with iOS 26. One of these is related to the lock screen<\/strong>, which is now more versatile than before. For example, you can change the size of the clock’s numbers<\/strong> so that it occupies more space on the screen.<\/p>\n

You will also be able to change the size of the image so that it fills the entire screen. Another thing you can customize is the texture of the numbers, allowing for a solid color or crystal-like transparency. iOS will take into account the design of the background photo, and if there are protrusions that match the clock’s numbers, it will create a layering effect<\/strong> that you can toggle on or off in the lock screen settings.<\/p>\n

When you’re setting up your new lock screen wallpaper, there is a button with a hexagon that allows you to activate the spatial scene generation<\/strong>. This means it will generate a 3D effect with the background photo so that it appears to move.<\/p>\n

Another interesting feature is that you can also view any photo with the spatial 3D effect through the Photos<\/em> app. While you won’t be able to do much with it, as it cannot be exported, you can at least see how it looks or show this effect to others.<\/p>\n

To do this, enter the photo you want to view and tap the hexagon icon that will appear in the upper right corner. You’ll see a few purple colors appear on the screen while the AI analyzes the content of the photo, and then the Spatial Scene<\/em><\/strong> indicator will become active. Now, just move your phone to enjoy the effect.<\/p>\n

This will open a screen where you have several options to customize your icons. In this screen, tap on the<\/strong> Translucent<\/em><\/strong> option<\/strong> to try out the new aesthetic for icons. You can use this with either light or dark backgrounds, and everything else will be transparent and colorless. You can also choose between small or large icons.<\/p>\n

This filter has some drawbacks<\/strong>, such as when a real person calls, it might confuse them into thinking you’re the fraud by hearing Siri’s voicemail. Nevertheless, to activate it, simply go to settings, navigate to Apps<\/em>, and tap on Phone<\/em>. Scroll down to the call filtering section, where you can choose the request motive option and activate it for unknown numbers.<\/p>\n

Instant Translation in Calls<\/h2>\n

To use this mode, you first need to place or answer a call. Then, tap the call options and select the<\/strong> Real-time Translation<\/em><\/strong> option from the menu that opens. You will have to configure the desired language, and that’s it; Siri will display the translation on the screen.<\/p>\n

To do this, enter the settings, go to the Apps<\/em> section, and tap on Safari<\/em>. Scroll down to where it says Tabs<\/em>. Choosing the <\/strong>Compact<\/em><\/strong> option will activate the new Safari design. To deactivate it, select the Bottom<\/em> or Top<\/em> options, depending on where you prefer the address and search bar to be.<\/p>\n

This adaptive consumption mode may be activated by default<\/strong>, though not always, so it is wise to check it by going to settings and tapping on the Battery<\/em> section. Moreover, you’ll have the option to select expressions for the Genmojis, such as happiness or surprise, modify attributes like hairstyle or beard, and apply more styles using ChatGPT<\/strong>, such as oil painting or anime. There\u2019s a lot to experiment with and explore.<\/p>\n
