Helse Møre og Romsdal announced this in a press release. New patients thus had to be sent to Molde hospital, which is around 70 minutes south of Kristiansund by car. – For a long time, it has been very full on the medical bed post. Now it had come to a point where it was no longer advisable to accept more patients, says clinic manager for Nordmøre and Romsdal Hospital, Britt Rakvåg Roald. Have ten patients too many The hospital currently has a large overcrowding, with 40 admitted patients on medical beds. – It is extremely demanding. We have dimensioned for 30 beds, so everyone has a room or space that is dimensioned for. When there are more, it will be in corridors, daily living rooms and places where it is not planned for there to be patient beds. Clinic manager Britt Rakvåg Roald. Photo: Roar Strøm / news They have long had a challenge with fully treated patients that Kristiansund municipality does not have space to receive in the nursing homes. On Sunday evening, there were seven patients who were ready for discharge. This contributed greatly to the situation, according to the health authority. AMK and the emergency services were notified that those who needed help were sent to Molde until 4pm on Monday. – There is not enough space in Molde either, but we have put in more medical resources to move patients around a bit. says Rakvåg Roald. During Monday, the measure was evaluated, and the reception is now open again. – Doing what we can, Kristiansund municipality will build a new nursing home that will be ready in 2026 at the earliest, which will have room for several of the patients ready to be discharged who will take up space at the hospital. – We do what we can, and for many years have been expanding our capacity all the time. Last summer, we set up our own ad-hoc department to take the pressure off the hospital, says municipal manager Siv Iren Stormo Andersson in Kristiansund municipality.
