Doralba Graciano Borja, a \u00a040-year-old woman\u00a0, was the victim of an attempt at \u00a0femicide\u00a0 at the Caracol\u00ed shopping center in \u00a0Floridablanca, Santander\u00a0, on Friday afternoon, September 5. The attack, \u00a0perpetrated by her ex-partner\u00a0, highlighted the ongoing issue of \u00a0gender violence\u00a0 in the region.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred on the \u00a0fifth floor\u00a0 of the mall, a busy and family-friendly space. According to police reports and testimonies, Graciano Borja was in the establishment when she recognized her aggressor, \u00a0Oriel Trujillo Mart\u00ednez\u00a0, 44, who had \u00a0threatened her in the past\u00a0. Upon attempting to escape, she was intercepted by Trujillo Mart\u00ednez, who, without any warning, attacked her with a \u00a0knife\u00a0, delivering a deep wound in her abdomen.<\/p>\n

Witnesses indicated that Trujillo Mart\u00ednez had been harassing Graciano Borja leading up to the attack. After injuring her, he fled the scene, descending in the elevator and crossing the parking lot.<\/p>\n

She was swiftly transported to the \u00a0International Hospital of Colombia\u00a0 where she underwent \u00a0emergency surgery\u00a0. The knife wound impacted two vital organs, resulting in two cardiorespiratory arrests. Fortunately, the medical team was able to stabilize her condition, but she was placed in the \u00a0Intensive Care Unit\u00a0 for further observation and treatment. Authorities have identified the attacker, Oriel Trujillo Mart\u00ednez, who reportedly has a \u00a0criminal record\u00a0 related to illegal activities in Bucarica.<\/p>\n

Although Trujillo Mart\u00ednez managed to escape, the \u00a0Bucaramanga Metropolitan Police\u00a0 has stated that investigations are underway to locate him and that an arrest warrant for attempted \u00a0feminicide\u00a0 is expected to be issued imminently.
