– What we have decided is that the funds that we saved on the strike in the form of salaries will go back to the school, says Troms\u00f8 mayor Gunnar Wilhelmsen (Ap). There is talk of a total of NOK 7.5 million which will now benefit the schools and students in Troms\u00f8 municipality through various measures. The teacher’s strike ended in a compulsory pay committee on September 27, or almost 14 weeks. Some students were not allowed to start the school year until after the strike ended, while others only had a few hours a week. She is in the 8th grade at Sommerlyst School in Troms\u00f8. 9th grader Olivia Moe-Jordan believes that school is an important social platform, and for many students perhaps the only social platform. – I think it is great that we are allowed to use this money.
