The \u00a0violent escalation\u00a0 that whipped Cali and the Valle del Cauca during the afternoon of Thursday, August 21, 2025, with the \u00a0attack on the Air Base Marco Fidel Su\u00e1rez\u00a0 that left \u00a0six dead and 71 injured\u00a0, caused shock and rejection at the national level.<\/p>\n

The incident adds to the attack against a helicopter in Amalfi, Antioquia, by the 36th front of the \u201cCalarc\u00e1\u201d dissidents faction, which claimed \u00a013 police officers’ lives\u00a0, as well as the attack last June against Miguel Uribe Turbay, a \u00a0presidential candidate\u00a0 for the Democratic Center, who succumbed to injuries after two months in the hospital.<\/p>\n

All my solidarity with affected families. #Duelescali,” she wrote.<\/p>\n

Another voice echoing the sentiments of concern was \u00a0Mario Alberto Yepes\u00a0, a former soccer player and also a participant of Masterchef Celebrity<\/i>. The Valle del Cauca native shared a symbolic image of a black ribbon on his social media, referencing the mourning that envelops the community following the attack.<\/p>\n

On his Instagram account, Yepes empathized with the cries from the public for an \u00a0effective solution\u00a0 to the ongoing violence that plagues Colombia. <\/p>\n

“I’m barely seeing news, I can’t believe what happened. I usually try not to comment on anything, but this already went past the limit,”<\/b> acknowledged the content creator as he reacted to the remarkable escalation of violence witnessed last Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Yeferson Cossio\u00a0, another popular influencer who often stays clear of political discussions, also used his platform to express concern about the possibility of Colombia returning to the era of violence that had plagued the nation for decades: “Colombia, we cannot be the first thing (…) it is already supposed to live in peace, be calm on the street. We cannot afford to be what we were before, those times were left behind,”<\/b> he stated.<\/p>\n

Cossio emphasized that his intention is not to incite tension or politicize tragedy but rather to echo a sentiment felt by numerous citizens: “I’m going to save everything I mean, I will not encourage hate with my statements, but I know that we all think about the management that is being given to the country,”<\/b> he concluded.<\/p>\n
