The \u00a0governor\u00a0 of Salta<\/b>, \u00a0Gustavo S\u00e1enz\u00a0, has made it clear that members of the provincial front he leads have \u00a0free rein\u00a0 to support whatever political space they feel most aligned with during the upcoming \u00a0National Legislative Elections on October 26\u00a0.<\/p>\n

S\u00e1enz emphasized that \u00a0\u201cthe only limit is to always defend the province\u201d\u00a0, urging his political colleagues to respect the interests of Salta’s residents who elected them to represent their needs.<\/p>\n

In light of this decision, there will not be a formal candidate list representing the provincial ruling party, which achieved a \u00a0remarkable victory\u00a0 in the last local elections. During this election, the ruling front claimed victory by securing \u00a011 out of 12 provincial Senate seats\u00a0 and \u00a022 of the 30 deputy positions\u00a0.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, in the provincial capital, \u00a0Freedom\u00a0\u2014 a space mainly chaired by \u00a0Alfredo Olmedo\u00a0\u2014has gained a noteworthy presence. President \u00a0Javier Milei’s\u00a0 political party managed to secure \u00a06 out of 10 seats\u00a0 in the local Chamber of Deputies, as well as the sole Senate seat up for grabs in the city of Salta.<\/p>\n

This alliance comprises leaders from over \u00a016 different political parties\u00a0, covering a wide ideological spectrum that includes \u00a0Peronism, Radicalism, PRO,\u00a0 and \u00a0Libertarian\u00a0 views. What began as a collective effort in last local elections is now facing fragmentation as members vie for \u00a0three Senate seats and three deputy positions in the National Congress\u00a0.<\/p>\n

Although S\u00e1enz refrained from endorsing a specific candidate or party for the elections, he did note that \u00a0\u201cit seems that the debate is between the past and the present.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cMy commitment is to talk about the future and fulfill the mandate entrusted to me: to fight for Salta,\u201d\u00a0 S\u00e1enz concluded, making it evident that his focus lies on progress rather than nostalgia.<\/p>\n

In recent developments, \u00a0Juan Manuel Urtubey\u00a0, a former governor of Salta, has announced his candidacy for National Senator through the \u00a0Patria Force\u00a0 party. This party encompasses various \u00a0Justicialist factions\u00a0 including Victory, Kolina, and others, asserting a more \u00a0Kirchnerist direction\u00a0 within Peronism.<\/p>\n

Urtubey described the formation of the Patria Force as a \u00a0political maturation\u00a0, signifying a unification across different factions aimed at addressing the \u00a0negative impact of Milei’s government\u00a0 on both Salta and the country.<\/p>\n

Late last month, Urtubey had hinted at his candidacy, which sparked mixed reactions from various factions within Peronism that had yet to organize a unified front or consider potential candidates.<\/p>\n

Despite this, Urtubey asserted that many leaders from his coalition had approached him to lead the charge: \u00a0\u201cMany leaders and political parties that comprise the front asked me to take the lead, and there really is no room to back away.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

He highlighted the ethical dimension of his return to the political scene, noting that, from a personal standpoint, he might not have much to prove; however, he feels a sense of \u00a0obligation to advocate for an Argentina that upholds citizens’ rights\u00a0, given the perceived risks posed by the current governmental model.<\/p>\n
