This meeting, held on a recent Saturday, culminated in a \u00a0unanimous resolution\u00a0 to reject the Catalan “quota” system. The president of the regional PP, \u00a0Paco N\u00fa\u00f1ez\u00a0, has urged the head of the Autonomous Executive, \u00a0Emiliano Garc\u00eda-Page\u00a0, to support this rejection.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, N\u00fa\u00f1ez referenced a prior statement made by Garc\u00eda-Page, who lamented that \u00a0Carles Puigdemont\u00a0 had effective control over the legislature. \u00a0“Emiliano, you are mistaken; the remote control of the legislature lies with you,”\u00a0 he declared. He urged Garc\u00eda-Page to act\u2014highlighting the perceived power he holds in the Assembly\u2014with the ability to respond whenever necessary.<\/p>\n

N\u00fa\u00f1ez also revealed that he had sent a letter to Garc\u00eda-Page advocating for a joint meeting between the regional \u00a0PP\u00a0 and \u00a0PSOE\u00a0 executives. The goal? To develop a unified stance against the \u00a0separatist quota\u00a0 and assert the need for \u00a0fair financing\u00a0 for the region. \u201cI proposed that our executives gather this July and finalize a resolution focused on \u00a0defense of equitable financing\u00a0,\u201d N\u00fa\u00f1ez said, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.<\/p>\n

With great \u00a0pride\u00a0, N\u00fa\u00f1ez announced that the regional PP had unanimously approved a resolution dedicated to defending \u00a0Castilla-La Mancha\u00a0, Spain, and categorically rejecting the \u00a0separatist agenda\u00a0 associated with the “quota.” This strong stance signals a \u00a0firm commitment\u00a0 from the party to stand against what they see as detrimental policies.<\/p>\n

N\u00fa\u00f1ez didn\u2019t shy away from criticizing the \u00a0management\u00a0 of the Castilla-La Mancha government. He pointed out a \u00a0“manifest lack of management”\u00a0 under Garc\u00eda-Page, particularly lamenting that policies concerning water have become increasingly skewed toward social agendas, with farmers and agriculture suffering the most. \u00a0“Under this government, water supply has decreased due to more socialism, hurting our farmers,”\u00a0 he noted.<\/p>\n

He also criticized the Garc\u00eda-Page administration’s inability to complete a water audit or create a needs map despite having a regional pact signed by 41 entities. \u00a0“No government has ever signed such an agreement and yet we see inaction,”\u00a0 he emphasized.<\/p>\n

The infrastructure situation is equally alarming according to N\u00fa\u00f1ez, who lamented that in the past decade, there have been \u00a0“zero kilometers”\u00a0 of new highways constructed. He underscored that a recent report indicated that \u00a0Castilla-La Mancha\u00a0 has the \u00a0worst preserved roads\u00a0 in the country. Health care also seems to be a significant issue as N\u00fa\u00f1ez addressed the \u00a0lengthy waiting lists\u00a0 in the region\u2019s healthcare system, remarking on the failure to reinstate the \u00a0professional health career\u00a0 over the last ten years.<\/p>\n

Issues of fiscal policy have further heightened concerns, with N\u00fa\u00f1ez pointing out that \u00a0Castilla-La Mancha\u00a0 has one of the highest tax pressures in Spain. This includes a continuation of succession and donation taxes, outpacing many other regions. He called for immediate attention to these issues, stating, \u00a0\u201cWe must continue striving for change, as we cannot allow this region to have the highest rents in its history or witness 5,000 young people fleeing our land annually.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The sentiments were echoed by \u00a0Miguel Tellado\u00a0, the General Secretary of the PP, who criticized the \u00a0PSOE\u00a0 for voting in \u00a0lockstep\u00a0 with the national party led by \u00a0Pedro S\u00e1nchez\u00a0. \u00a0“These deputies display a lack of independence; they are merely mouthpieces for their party,”\u00a0 Tellado stated, unequivocally calling it a form of \u00a0cynicism and hypocrisy\u00a0.<\/p>\n

The dynamics within the political landscape of Castilla-La Mancha continue to evolve as party leaders rally their bases against perceived attacks on regional identity and autonomy. The resolve shown by N\u00fa\u00f1ez and the PP demonstrates an \u00a0unwavering commitment\u00a0 to advocate for local constituents and voice opposition to what they believe are unfair practices dictated by Catalan policy.<\/p>\n
