They highlighted that “the suffering of the civilian population has reached new levels,” underscoring the urgent need for action. The statement emphasized the \u00a0“dangerous” humanitarian aid distribution model\u00a0 practiced by Israel, noting that over \u00a0800 Palestinians have died\u00a0 while seeking essential help.<\/p>\n

According to the joint statement, “The aid from the Israeli government is dangerous; it feeds instability and deprives the \u00a0Gazans of their human dignity\u00a0. We condemn the distribution of drop-off aid and the inhuman death of civilians, including children, who are merely trying to satisfy their most basic needs for water and food.” The nations condemned Israel’s denial of essential humanitarian aid, calling it \u00a0unacceptable\u00a0.<\/p>\n

The signatory countries stressed that Israel must uphold its \u00a0obligations under international humanitarian law\u00a0. They urged the Israeli government to \u00a0immediately lift the restrictions\u00a0 on the flow of aid, allowing the \u00a0United Nations\u00a0 (UN) and humanitarian NGOs to perform their crucial work safely and effectively.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the statement labeled the proposed transfer of the Palestinian population to a “humanitarian city” as “completely unacceptable.” They emphasized that \u00a0permanent forced displacement\u00a0 violates international humanitarian law. “We strongly oppose any measures that promote territorial or demographic changes in the occupied Palestinian territories,” they added.<\/p>\n

The statement also addressed the controversial settlement plan announced by Israel, warning that it “would divide the Palestinian state into two,” which they deemed a \u00a0blatant violation of international law\u00a0. The \u00a0European Commission\u00a0, along with other member nations, including \u00a0Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland,\u00a0 and the \u00a0United Kingdom\u00a0, united in this diplomatic endeavor.<\/p>\n

Following the declaration, \u00a0Hamas\u00a0 expressed its approval, viewing it as “an additional international acknowledgment of the magnitude of the crimes committed by the fascist occupation government.” A representative for Hamas called upon the signatory states to translate their condemnation into \u00a0practical measures\u00a0 that would effectively halt the ongoing humanitarian tragedy and ensure the immediate flow of aid.<\/p>\n

The escalation of violence in Gaza roots back to the \u00a0October 7 attacks\u00a0, which reportedly claimed around \u00a01,200 lives\u00a0 and resulted in approximately \u00a0250 kidnappings\u00a0, according to the Israeli government. However, Palestinian authorities, controlled by \u00a0Hamas\u00a0, have reported that more than \u00a059,000 Palestinians\u00a0 have lost their lives as a result of the ongoing conflict, a number that many fear may be understated.<\/p>\n
